About the role

NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) is seeking an exceptional and experienced Senior High-Performance Manager to provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of high-performance sport partnerships and programs.

In this influential leadership role, you will drive the successful delivery of allocated NSWIS sport partnerships, working closely with National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) and key stakeholders to establish, implement, monitor, and review sport partnership agreements. You will provide strategic oversight of sport programs by leading planning, reporting, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with coaches and performance support staff, you will help define athlete development pathways, performance targets, and key program measures to support sustainable success on the world stage.

As a senior leader within NSWIS, you will champion a high-performance culture grounded in integrity, accountability, innovation, and a holistic approach to athlete wellbeing, helping athletes achieve success while continuing to "Win Well."

A key responsibility of this role is providing leadership and oversight of NSWIS talent initiatives, including oversight of the NSWIS Para Unit and its activities, ensuring strong talent identification, development, and performance pathways across the organisation.

Working in close partnership with the NSWIS High Performance Senior Leadership Team, and a broad network of sporting partners, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of high-performance sport in New South Wales.

This is a full time position, attracting an annual salary range starting at $177,222 plus superannuation.  The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic cycle. 

This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you

You will bring to our team:

  • At least 10 years’ experience developing elite athletes and coaches, including leading, devising, and implementing successful programs in a sport or Institute program; demonstrating a proven knowledge of the demands, pressure and the needs of elite athletes and coaches.
  • Success in developing and maintaining successful relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Success with building a high-performance culture and the management of multi-disciplinary high-performance teams.
  • Allocation and management of financial resources to support sport & athlete performance outcomes.
  • Thorough understanding of the requirements of high-performance athletes and coaches

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant degree qualifications
  • Extensive experience in high performance sport management/leadership
  • Strategic planning and systems management, including implementing high performance sport program management systems that track progress against success measures and explore innovation and opportunity.
  • A highly developed understanding of the following athlete support areas: coaching, sports science, sports medicine, sports technology/data science, athlete wellbeing and engagement.
  • Staff management, including developing dynamic and driven team and employee performance and development.
  • Australian Working rights.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current Working with Children check
